GSC Vault is not a data-monetization company. The extension backs up Search Console data directly to files it creates in your Google Drive. GSC Vault does not operate a hosted storage service for your Search Console reports.

1. Google User Data Policy

This section details how GSC Vault interacts with Google User Data obtained via Google APIs. We strictly adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Data Access & Scope

  • Google Search Console Data (Read-only): We access your search performance data (clicks, impressions, position, queries, etc.) solely to create your requested backups and totals analysis.
  • Google Drive Data (drive.file scope): We create and update compressed JSONL backup files, totals files, and manifests in your Google Drive. This scope limits the extension to files it creates or that you explicitly open with it.
  • User Identity: We access your basic Google profile and email address to show which account is authorized and verify the required permissions.

Privacy by Architecture

  • No Hosted Data Store: Search Console data moves between Google APIs, the extension, and files in your Google Drive without being uploaded to a GSC Vault storage service.
  • Scoped Drive Access: The extension requests drive.file, not broad access to all files in your Drive.
  • Validated Local Analysis Cache: Totals used by the analysis view may be cached locally after their gzip format, JSONL schema, row count, and SHA-256 checksum are validated against the Drive manifest.

Core Usage

  • Preserve Search Console History: Data access is used to build scheduled backups beyond Google's rolling retention window.
  • Visualization: Validated totals are used to render analysis charts in the extension.
  • Private Backup: Backup files remain in your own Google Drive, where you control access and retention.

2. Technical Safeguards

As a tool built for SEO professionals, we treat data as a strategic asset.

  • Minimal Telemetry: We do not track your browsing history.
  • No Report Analytics: Search Console report content is not sent to third-party analytics services.
  • OAuth 2.0 Security: We never see or store your password. All authentication is handled via official Google tokens, which you can revoke at any time in your Google Account settings.

3. Website Analytics

The GSC Vault website uses Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use our public pages and to improve page usability. Clarity may collect website interaction and technical data such as page views, clicks, scrolling, navigation, browser and device information, performance diagnostics, and a masked representation of page content.

  • Clarity runs only on the public website. It is not included in the GSC Vault browser extension.
  • Search Console reports, Google Drive backup files, Google account data, and License Keys are not sent to Clarity.
  • Sensitive page content and form inputs are masked according to our Clarity project settings and Microsoft's masking controls.
  • Cookie use depends on the visitor's region, consent status, and our Clarity project settings.

Microsoft processes Clarity data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. You can learn more in the Clarity data collection documentation.
